Our People

Taylor R. Briggs (1933-2000)

A founding Managing Partner, Taylor R. Briggs was instrumental in the establishment and early success of The Berkshires Capital Investors. The BCI family was deeply saddened by Taylor's death in September of 2000. His wise counsel in addition to his spirit, wit, and energy had been invaluable assets to us all. He is deeply missed.

Taylor was a 1954 graduate of Williams College. Prior to retiring to Williamstown and helping to start BCI, he was a partner in the international law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP, from 1963 to 1995. He served as its Chairman from 1979 to 1988, during which the firm grew in size from just over 100 lawyers to more than 400, and revenues increased from $15 million to more than $100 million. He served as Counsel to the board of directors of ITT Corporation and was an elected fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the American Bar Foundation. He is survived by his wife Jane and their three children.
